Why dental X-rays are vital for cats

Cats are highly prone to feline odontoclastic resorptive lesions (FORLs) — painful holes that develop in teeth below the gumline. These are impossible to diagnose without dental X-rays. X-rays also help us detect:

  • Root resorption and fractures
  • Retained roots after extractions
  • Jaw bone loss from periodontal disease
  • Hidden infections causing chronic pain

Without X-rays, many cats continue to suffer in silence despite looking “fine” on the surface.

What’s involved

Cat dental X-rays are taken under general anaesthetic as part of a dental procedure. T
